I, for one, am anticipating this piece. I expect to learn a lot from it.
A lot of you are new to Shay and don't know her work, some of you have been around long enough to know better. Let's wait for the piece to come out, OK?

You can form your own opinion about Planter, but you can't form hers.
I did meet with Graham Platner today, we had a good chat that will hopefully be the first of several. As I didn't get into everything I wanted to. I'll be writing a piece with my reflections and thoughts in the next few days.

Part of me is happy Mills is running. As @danpfeiffer.bsky.social says, she has been a good governor. And, if @grahamformaine.bsky.social can’t beat her in a primary, he won’t beat Collins.

That said, I’m excited to support Platner, on character, message, and energy. Let’s go!!!!

For the life of me, I cannot figure out what the hell the Senate Democrats are doing in Maine — the most important Senate race in the country. Their decision to back Janet Mills suggests they have learned no lessons from our loss in 2024.

Are Democrats About to Blow It in Maine?
By backing Janet Mills over a grassroots outsider, party leaders may be repeating the same mistakes from 2024

I want to defeat Susan Collins. The enthusiasm I see for Platner is off the charts and I think he can do that. I prefer his age, temperament and platform to Janet’s - but I have a lot of respect for her and will rank her second. If she wins the primary I will be happy to support her.

More importantly, Dominos? Clearly Cancun Ted has never been anywhere near Chicago.
And I would never want to get between Ted and a trip to Cancun when there’s an emergency in Texas
Ted Cruz: "I don't want to get between JB Pritzker and the Dominos Pizza line, but I'll tell you what I am willing to get between -- him and his open doors for every human trafficker ... "

There is no way the next Kennedy Center Honors event can compete with this. There is a reason Chicago rules.

And here I thought it was Eb7#9no5.
Just spoke with God! Apparently that secret chord that pleased him so much was actually just a D7#9, like at the beginning of "Here Comes Your Man."

I have very fond memories of my mom’s parents, both immigrants from Poland who lived in Chicago and Wisconsin. They made great pierogis.

That said, Dershowitz has no idea the size of the can of whoop-ass he just opened. I recommend everyone buy lots of popcorn.

Seriously, I can’t stop thinking about this talk. Watch it.
I’ve known @scott.hanselman.com for 2 decades as a colleague and friend. I’ve always respected his insight and thoughtfulness. He’s an excellent presenter and teacher.

This is his most thought provoking talk yet. Watch it. Ask what you’re delivering for others.

It reminds me of part of Frank Zappa’s testimony at the PMRC hearings in the 80s: that a warning label about language on rock albums would only encourage bands to have lyrics that guaranteed the label. Because rock and roll.
Precisely.

Now, people REALLY want to listen—even more than before.

Let’s see the firing backfire.
As dangerous as canceling Colbert was for our democracy, it made him infinitely more powerful. I mean, who exactly was watching him before now? Firing him was a signal that what he has to say is REALLY important. I don’t care if he just starts a TikTok, he’ll become one of the key voices in America.

She speaks truth. UIUC ‘86 here, major in CompSci/engineering. NCSA was awesome, and received multiple grants for different research activities.
Illinois grad here. Andreesen's fortune is built on research funded by the NSF at the UIUC super computing lab (NCSA). So on top of the vile racism, he's a hypocrite.
