I'm a old cartoonist and language crank. I HATE hearing everyone under 55 using "like," meaninglessly, CONSTANTLY. God forbid you speak a forceful, simple declarative sentence--like an American, ffs--without instantly retreating mealy-mouthed to Like-land. What tf happened to you? Knock it off!

I’m starting a movement against music in waiting rooms. If I’m sitting for an hour, I want to read, not listen to music I didn’t choose.

Who’s with me?

Calling the press “fake news” is harmful. Calling them “seditious, perhaps even treasonous” for publishing reporting is something else entirely. Treason is a capital crime. Suggesting journalists should face it for exercising their First Amendment rights and doing their jobs is dangerous.

Somehow this place didn't make it. A restaurant on Mission St., San Francisco about 10 years ago. These are, I swear, select actual items from their menu.

At last, I'm able to name the worst performed and written song of recent times, or possibly ever.. Now playing at my gym: "Robbery" by JuiceWRLD!

Hong Kong has many virtues, but is noted for its crowded housing. One public housing project was named "Pak Tin," which tickled me.. couldn't find my (dull) picture of it, so here's a shot of another, optimistically named "Healthy Village."

Rosa Parks showed how one act of courage can spark change. Today we honor her legacy by standing up for equal rights and demanding a stronger democracy.

Remember: Almost all of us are the descendants of immigrants who fled persecution, or were brought to America under duress, or sought better lives for themselves and their descendants.

Politicians who stoke fear and hatred over immigration want you to forget this.

Do not.

A demo I did solo, trying out for penciling and coloring Dan Brereton's cool women-in-demon-prison Vampirella tale for editor Bon Amiglano. Inker was the best, my pal Mike Manley. ~2008.
(I did OK, but soon felt I'd drawn it too NICE: eye-comforting, rather than seamy and intense.)

From Rick Remender's "Doll & Creature", c. 2000. Pencils mine, inking by Mike Manley. Toning by the then young Peter Secosh and/or Jeremy Saliba. These guys made this maybe the most beautifully crafted page I've ever had a hand in.

"Action Planet Comics Hot Twisted Love." I was goofing on old love comics, written for females by men. The story that inspired me was drawn beautifully by Frazetta! I stole a couple lines whole, which appear all in boldface on the last page.

In this solo effort, I aimed to draw à la W. Wood. FUN!

My 2-yr stint as a Marvel guy was not much. My superhero penciling was so-so. Still, 5 years on, Rick Remender brought me onto his new title "Doll and Creature"! He chose to make it all-action for the first hunk of pages. A ballsy move, considering. I didn't stink it up, sez 2025 me!

Read in The Atlantic today about something I've been hearing on Thanksgivings for decades: that bit of wisdom about turkey putting you to sleep because of the tryptophan in it. Not supported by science, it turns out.

Now I don't believe in nothing no more!

The Trump administration is planning to open 1.3 billion acres of U.S. oceans to oil and gas drilling, expanding the production of climate-warming fossil fuels. Scientists say we need to phase out fossil fuels to prevent the worst impacts of global warming.

Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged.

Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.
