My very tiny LLC paid for a tiny sponsorship for our local public media station and I *immediately* got a new client from it that will likely cover that advertising cost and then some! Support public media however you can!

Folks might not know a lot of people are getting *very* upset that the materials they request are not available in the libraries/archives they're requesting from.

We're getting lots here at the Library of Virginia: requests of documents likely surfaced by large language models that *do not exist*.

In September, I (and many other accessibility advocates) reviewed the America by Design website, finding sloppy AI-generated code and accessibility bugs.

@notus.com wrote on it, and also spoke to many amazing folks from @alt18f.bsky.social and @ethanmarcotte.com

Thank you for this thread! In the US we love tidy narratives about heroes and their bootstraps, stories that don't fundamentally challenge power. The civil rights movement was nonhierarchical, grassroots, distributed. We should celebrate folks who lit the path, and also not flatten their stories.
Today is the 70th anniversary of Rosa Parks' arrest. Six myths: 1) She wasn't old or tired. 42 years old that day, she had a "life history of being rebellious" & had spent two decades helping to turn the Montgomery NAACP into a more activist branch alongside ED Nixon and Johnnie Carr.
