"Why on earth would they fire IRS employees in the middle of tax season?" Because the whole thing is about making the rich richer.
For every $1 the IRS spends auditing the top 1%, it can collect $13.

For every $1 the IRS spends auditing the top 0.1%, it can collect $26.

Laying off 7,000 IRS employees (during tax season) isn't about efficiency.

It's about making it easier for the rich to evade taxes.

Jesus, per NYT Musk not only initially commandeered a West Wing office only to complain it was too small (he now has the old Sec. of War suite in EEOB), he tried to get himself a permanent private bedroom in the Residence!
We just published a 3,000 word feature on Elon Musk's incursion into the federal government.

I feel very slightly bad, for a few seconds, for this 19 year old, but he's old enough to know some basic right from wrong and by choosing to do this he is at the gate of extreme FAFO should things not go perfectly in their plot. And lol at Elon protecting him if it becomes costly to Elon.
Yes totally cool that a 19-year-old who called his deleted LinkedIn "Big Balls," where he lists his experience working as a camp counselor can access the entire US federal payment system without anyone looking into his background, for instance, his Russian national close relatives or anything else

Do Repubs know Musk has access to their personal info? SS#, bday, bank acct numbers? That he has enough access to turn on/off SS and Medicare. They voted for a lot of weird shit but how many of them know we're experiencing the largest data breach in US history? Conservative news isn't reporting it.
