It’s blindingly obviously true that using government power or threats of government power to curb speech is categorically (and legally) different than using social sanction.

Also the vast majority of people in American don’t think that’s true and wouldn’t even be able to articulate the difference.

/9 ....I'm more inclined to say that giving the state the power to suppress speech leads to worse results and worse injustices, and less inclined to say that free debate inherently leads to better results and the truth. I'm negative-consequence rather than positive-consequence focused.

Like I said, he knows.

He knows this is a real problem for him. He can’t just admit it and say who cares.

This could erode a chunk of his support. He barely held his base together when this picked up earlier. He needed this to go away. It won’t, and it’s damaging.

Then a copy of the letter with Trump’s signature is produced by the Epstein estate.

Trump lying about the existence of the letter was a tacit admission that he knew exactly how bad it was.

He tried to claim the Access Hollywood tape wasn’t him until it was undeniable. Then he pivoted to “locker room talk” because he knew it was damaging.

I'm feeling both so sad/angry for everyone in this situation and especially relieved that my place of employment held their annual vaccine clinic this semester like normal. I got my COVID and flu shots with no trouble at all.

Also, RFK Jr. must go.

Today, I tried to get my COVID vaccine and was denied. Even after showing the pharmacist @govwesmoore.bsky.social 's statement that Maryland law says all Marylanders should have access to the COVID vaccine, I was still denied. They said they had to follow the box. This is RFK's fault. RFK must go.
