🎉🎉Reminder🎉🎉
If you need any help in your own personal Covid/Health advocacy for masking, safety in public, accommodations for apts, human rights complaints, letters, etc, send me a dm. Part of my quest to be a “Swiss Army knife” of advocacy is to help those who need it, in any way I can.

“Why good ventilation is key to stopping the spread of Covid-19

Clean air far more important than clean hands”

'Because if COVID were a one and done virus- a virus that bestowed lifelong immunity, like measles or polio (generally) do, the cruel logic of “let it rip” and “back to normal” would ultimately work for the “survivors”.'

Nobody has Long COVID, but everybody has brain fog, cognitive decline and memory loss. I talk about the overwhelming scientific evidence that COVID damages the brain, and the overwhelming social unwillingness to acknowledge it in my latest:

The Liberals committed billions of dollars to tackle the housing crisis — and it’s up to us to make sure that money gets invested in people, not corporate developers.

Take action now: leadnow.ca/campaigns/pa... #HomesForAll #cdnpoli
“My biggest concern is finding stable housing. In the last 6 years, I have moved 7 times, for various reasons: uncapped rent increases, my roommates being priced out of their leases, poorly maintained rental units where landlords refuse to fix basic use items for months on end.” Kathryn

Study identifies PTX-3 as potential marker for long COVID and tissue damage.

Researchers at MedUni Vienna found PTX-3, an immune marker, remains at higher levels in the blood of patients who have suffered from severe COVID-19, even months after the acute infection has subsided.

For many COVID-aware people, parents in particular, the fall season represents one big gaslighting extravaganza…let’s be clear, it is NOT normal, ok, valuable, or good in any way for children to be repeatedly infected with a virus that can impact every organ of the body.

Every time the subject of Jimmy Fallon’s spinelessness comes up, I think of this passage from Tina Fey’s Bossypants
66 Amy Poehler was new to SNL and we were all crowded into the seventeenth-floor writers' room, waiting for the Wednesday night read-through to start.
[...] Amy was in the middle of some such nonsense with Seth Meyers across the table, and she did something vulgar as a joke. I can't remember what it was exactly, except it was dirty and loud and
"unladylike"
Jimmy Fallon [...] turned to her and in a faux-squeamish voice said, "Stop that!
It's not cute! I don't like it." Amy dropped what she was doing, went black in the eyes for a second, and wheeled around on him. "I don't fucking care if you like it." Jimmy was visibly startled. Amy went right back to enjoying her ridiculous bit.
With that exchange, a cosmic shift took place. Amy made it clear that she wasn't there to be cute. She wasn't there to play wives and girlfriends in the boys' scenes.
She was there to do what she wanted to do and she did not fucking care if you like it.

On this day of National Truth and Reconciliation learn about the treaties and obligations and the Indigenous leaders who were key in forming Canada. This is important for everyone, but especially those who think a province can simply be plucked out of Canada. The treaties came first.

MAGA Maple believes they can break up our country. The Crown signed treaties with Indigenous nations 30 years before Alberta and Saskatchewan were even thought of.
This is my @meidascanada.ca look at the treaties and our obligations on Orange Shirt Day.

“I listened, we listened, we heard from you loud and clear,” Del Duca said in a social media video. “This is what leadership looks like, in particular at this moment. You need leaders who have your back and who are on your side.”
That's not leadership, it's populist politics. Yuck.

Certainly, and CUPW and others have given many excellent examples of how to do so (postal banking, for one) and the powers that be flat out rejected them all.

Let me be clear. As someone who has been professionally involved with the biodefense / biosecurity sector for nearly 20 years, and has worked on biological risk analysis for Covid-19 since early 2020, reducing one's risk of being infected is not health anxiety. It's just smart.

✊ Postal workers deserve our support in the fight against neoliberal austerity! A Crown corporation isn't supposed to "be profitable" - it is supposed to deliver a public service.

IMPORTANT: The Dutch invest €595 million annually on urban biking, resulting in €19 BILLION saved in public health care costs alone. That’s how smart govts do the math on investing in better mobility.

Let’s be clear— it wastes public money to NOT do it.
