Rob Reiner directed some of the most beloved movies of all time, including Stand By Me, This is Spinal Tap, and The Princess Bride. His production company also made movies like The Shawshank Redemption, Before Sunrise and Michael Clayton. The film industry has lost one of its titans.

I do love David Tennant and his response to this question in the Guardian today.
Are you protective of the doctors that have come after you, having seen what Jodie Whittaker and Gatwa faced? These debates – and it’s not even a debate, it’s a small clutch of people shouting very loudly, amplified by certain elements of the press – are not reflective of what most people feel. Things become ludicrously disproportionate, and end up being unnecessarily cruel. That’s what the trans debate seems to have become. Most people don’t give a shit. I genuinely believe most people just want to let people be themselves. All they’re doing is making a tiny portion of society who have a really tough time anyway have an even tougher time.

It is the birthday of Stephen Sondheim, and it's true that not a day goes by when I don't quote him to myself. Many composers write songs that match our extremes of emotion -- ecstasy, sorrow, rage. Sondheim does all that, but he also captures every shade of feeling in between.
