These 2 jellies look very similar in the water - both are ~1 cm across, have a yellow cross where the gut attaches & a ring of golden dots. The ID is in the radial canals

Trichydra pudica (left) - 4 main canals with unbranched branches

Proboscidactyla flavicirrata (right) - branch like roots

I usually vote late in the day so I can see everyone’s interesting #MinCup24 facts and pretty mineral photos, but as an astronomer I think I’m obliged to vote for the one named after the Atacama dessert: home to ALMA, one of the most important telescopes in the world. #Atacamite

gastroliths often have a distinctive polished surface from rubbing together in an animal's stomach, which makes them stand out from other cobbles. there's an interesting paper recently interpreting some rocks as gastroliths based on them having come from far away with no obvious means of transport.
These Rocks Made a 1,000-Mile Trek. Did Dinosaurs Carry Them? (Published 2021)
Researchers suggest a collection of prehistoric stones found in Wyoming journeyed from Wisconsin in the bellies of very large beasts.

I walk a lot in the forest. I thought I was experienced, but I had a blonde moment. In a different forest than where I was, there is a running path laid out with reflective road signs. Due to the time change, I was foraging mushrooms again with a flashlight when I saw something reflective. %

Since — rightly — no one has asked for my opinion: discovery of room temperature, standard pressure superconductivity would be one of the most important discoveries *ever* in physics / technology. Sadly, this field has been rife with misconduct & retracted results; doubt must be our first instinct.
The First Room-Temperature Ambient-Pressure Superconductor
For the first time in the world, we succeeded in synthesizing the room-temperature superconductor ($T_c \ge 400$ K, 127$^\circ$C) working at ambient pressure with a modified lead-apatite (LK-99)...
