If you replace "European colonists" with "Romans" and "the Indians" with "the Jews" it's a straightforward description of a bit of history from two millennia ago. The context doesn't seem bad to me, certainly not in a way that the specific word MAKES it bad.

Jew here, talking about "the Jews" is not inherently bad.

"The Jews living in the neighborhood all have mezuzot on their doorposts."
February 10, 2026 at 11:31 PM
roughly equivalent to "I personally prefer 'Black American', how dare you talk about 'African-Americans' unrelated to me"

I wouldn't want anyone calling me a "Jewish person" but I'm not gonna say anyone's an antisemite for using that phrase elsewhere.

hi, church boy here. this isn't funny, Christians only do this when they're in extreme distress
HOOOOOO boy.

Rep. LaMonica McIver (D-N.J.): "Do you consider yourself a religious man?"

Lyons: "Yes ma'am."

McIver: "How do you think Judgement Day will work for you with so much blood on your hands?"

"Do you think you're going to hell, Mr. Lyons?"

usually the antisemites go for the "Early Life" section of the Wikipedia article but the one about him literally opens with him being Arab and Christian so they had to go with the infobox instead

hilarious

1. Most teams are not in the market for a starting/franchise quarterback in any given year.
2. Teams that ARE can all do the math of "we can get a QB who's almost as good, and 20% of our fans won't lose their damn minds"
3. After a few years out of the league, he's no longer a realistic prospect.
February 10, 2026 at 11:01 AM
hot take, I don't think there was a big conspiracy to shut him out. I think it's explained adequately by the teams that were in the market for a QB all independently doing the math & deciding that the value he'd bring over the next available QB wasn't worth their most racist fans going ape shitt.

I think "these people had genuinely great ideals and failed to uphold them in times it really mattered, it is not enough for us to believe in lofty principles, we must also walk the walk" is a really important lesson for us to teach students because otherwise we set ourselves up for moral decline.
