Been rereading the SPQR series by John Maddox Roberts. Amazingly apt to our time plus being cracking good murder mysteries with excellent historical accuracy. And the audio book reader is perfect.

Are you even in museum work if you don't casually bake historic recipes like Ancient Roman Libum on your lunch breaks? All tested for Saturnalia

I mailed in my vote for Harris several days ago and my anxiety level is still way too high. I just want a time, a long time, to pass where I never see a photo of trump ever again. I need to find something to do that is not triggering.

I need to find an audiobook player that is not audible as i just had half my collection of disc world audio books disappear and Audible tells me they were removed because i had an audible plus account and they are entitled to do that.

Is there some other source for Audible books where what I purchase remains mine? #discworld

Audibile + some new publisher are up to something bad. For years I had all the Terry Pratchett Discworld books and suddenly they have disappeared from my library. I can't even repurchase some as they do not turn up on my searches. Publisher is Penguin with new readers. some good some awful.

And now it's time to rally around Harris, and I don't want to hear one more fucking white guy tell me "But the racists won't vote for her", because NO SHIT SHERLOCK THEY WERE ALREADY VOTING FOR TRUMP.

Sorting through piles of old books I found this book Extraordinary Popular Delusions and The Madness of Crowds by Charles Mackay. Started reading it. Just too apt.

Book I read as a child that had serious impact. For me that would start with Eloise at the Plaza by Kay Thompson. A female main character that I didn't immediately want to throttle. She was a force of nature.

A grade school classmate of mine just unearthed this treasure from our school yearbook, published in 1967. Imagine being introduced to the world of books by Mrs. Rollins.

Excited to share three prose poems from a series I’m working on, The Adventures of Odit A. Mowe, published today in @bullshitlit.bsky.social .

The series is inspired by Catullus 85 and is part of a larger project approaching Cat85 in a variety of ways.

My poem “Reading Catullus on Metro-North” came out 6 months ago in Milk Press from the Poetry Society of New York. Blue Sky has grown a lot since I last shared it! More to come from my Catullus 85 project but this first poem will always be special to me. poetrysocietyny.org/matthew-nisi...
