I always thought the first time I had a chance to see and photograph the Aurora it would be somewhere like Iceland, or Alaska. I was wrong. It was in New Mexico! 😂

And if you look closely, you can see a bit of the Milky Way up above as well.

Censorship can hit any community — show up for your next library board and school board meeting and speak up for your local librarians!!
This was a very timely screening for Tennesee librarians as they are currently facing audits within their youth collections as well as local attempts to pass bans on public library books. In the “last school year, at least 1,623 books were banned from Tennesee classrooms alone.” (-The Tennessean).
At a recent screening at Belcourt Theatre in Nashville, TN, The Tennessean stopped by to witness the “scoffs,” “gasps,” and “audible sniffers” from the audience as well as their thoughts on the film. “I feel like I just watched a horror movie based on a true story.”

Kennedy’s vision of a country built up through the service of its citizens is fundamentally incompatible with the vulgar cynicism of the current president.

Saw something about obscene plaques under White House presidential portraits, but didn’t think that could happen.
One person would be conscientious enough to stop that, right?
Once I saw it in a Letter From An American by Heather Cox Richardson, I knew it was true.
Despite being inconceivable 🤦‍♀️

"To librarians and civil liberties advocates...the request landed like a thunderclap. It was not merely inappropriate. It struck at one of the oldest and most fiercely protected principles in American library ethics: that what people read in a public library belongs to them alone."
Officials in Tennessee aren't just banning books, they're now demanding information on who checked out contested (largely LGBTQ+) books, including names, addresses, and "household composition."

A librarian who was given the directive has come forward asking for whistleblower protections.
