Fewer than 60,000 people – 0.001% of the world’s population – control 3 x as much wealth as the entire bottom 1/2 of humanity.

Those same people control most of the media, social media, streaming services, & politicians.

We are going to have take to the streets in vast numbers to change this.

Mrs Owen said they signed a six-month lease with the caravan park because it was "safer" than camping in public parks.

"We're paying $680 a fortnight to live here," she said.

"It's ridiculously expensive to live on a bit of dirt."

And force them to moderate it properly.

And regulate genAI.

They have no intention of standing up to anyone.
Framing the teen social media ban as standing up to big tech to protect the children is such bullshit.
If they had any desire to stand up to big tech they’d tax it properly.

Are you a renter, and have you ever had a property manager use a 360 camera when conducting routine inspections or condition reports? I really, really wanna talk with you. Get in touch!
I’m researching ways that digital technologies in Australia's private rental sector are impacting renters and housing justice.

I’m looking for more interview participants. If you are a renter and have experience using ‘RentTech’ - I want to speak with you!

I hope other countries who are pre-emptively praising the Albo govt for taking action, will learn from the way it's been poorly delivered to appeal to legacy media, not real child welfare expert recommendations
This is the whole reason the social media ban was introduced. To get friendly front pages. Labor is just a giant focus group in a trenchcoat.
The fuck is this
December 10, 2025 at 12:20 AM
That's a really weird part of the ban, kids will still being seeing their parents swallow conspiracy theories from Facebook, while they're denied getting accurate current affairs updates from tiktok
I foresee lots of teens in a while saying to their parents, “OMG put that thing down, can’t you see what it’s doing to you?!”

If young people didn't care at all about the genocide in Palestine, and if a certain social media platform hadn't been used to post thousands of videos documenting Israeli state terror, do we think a ban on social media for teenagers would be actually happening in Australia right now?

Love how the response to "social media is dangerous, toxic and damaging" is "ban children" and not "hold platforms accountable".
December 9, 2025 at 8:10 AM
It's both a invasion of privacy, undemocratic (done to appease lobbyists with vested interests), insulting to children (making them pay for adult abuse) and veering into authoritarianism ( likelihood of being abused to punish political freedoms, activism)
So awesome that the nation's so-called eSafety Commissioner is forcing every Australian over the age of 16 to hand over our biometric data to overseas-based companies whose business model is about monetising personal data & linking online accounts to real world individuals.
Excellent work everybody.
After going through above, I was sent an email, which sent me to the Kids Web Services website. I chose "Face Scan", which directed me to Yoti, face was scanned and it began estimating my age. It was taking so long I forgot about it, and just came back 4hrs later to see it is still "Estimating age"👍

Sprawl; cramped, black roofed, poor materials, no landscape
Towers; all tinted glass that cut out all winter sun while futile in summer, pathetic ‘windows’
