In the next episode of my "Life and Automattic" series, I talk about something close to my heart, our professional coaching benefit.
Life at Automattic: I will never stop learning.
One of the things that I discovered when I joined Automatic is that we have this amazing professional development benefit, and this covers a wide variety of things. There are courses and learn ups you can take within the company, you can expense books and learning courses. But the one thing that really, really worked or impacted, or benefited, or has benefited me over the last few years is our coaching benefit.

What’s new for developers? (October 2025)
21.6, 21.7, and 21.8 Gutenberg releases introduce features that expand WordPress capabilities for developers. The Command Palette now extends across the admin, the experimental Terms Query block simplifies taxonomy layouts, and Block Visibility controls enable conditional display. Notes (formerly Block Comments) mature for team collaboration, while content-only editing protects design integrity in client handoffs. WordPress Playground advances with an IDE-like interface and improved Blueprint functionality, setting the stage for WordPress 6.9.

They say AI will replace the web as we know it, and this time they mean it. Here follows a short list of previous times they also meant it, starting way back in 1997.
