Brilliant effort from the Circle the City riders last night. 🌧💨 It was chucking it down and blowing a gale, but that didn’t stop them pedalling on. 💪

A group of cyclists smiling in the rain during an evening ride through the city. Riders are wearing helmets, bright jackets, and waterproofs, with bikes of all sizes including children’s. Wet streets and umbrellas in the background show the rainy weather.

If you teach cognitive psychology or related topics & are willing to share your favorite teaching resources (e.g., demos, videos), please reply to/quote this post, tag me in a new post, or send me email. I'll compile them, share the list, & keep updating it this summer. Let's inspire each other!

I teach an undergrad cognitive psychology class. I've been thinking about assembling useful teaching resources (demos, videos, etc.) from other cogpsy instructors & sharing them in a single place. If there's enough interest here, I'll make a separate post & ask you to share your favorite materials.

A little bear figurine carved out of amber some 6,000 years ago 🐻 ❤️

A hole runs through the bear’s torso, suggesting it was threaded onto a cord and perhaps worn as a protective amulet.

Discovered in a peat bog near Slupsk in Poland. 📷 National Museum in Szczecin.

Photo by G. Solecki/A. Pietak of a small figurine of a bear carved out of amber between 9600 and 4100 BC. The amber is a deep translucent orange colour. The bear's head is carved to show ears, mouth, nostrils and eyes. A hole runs through the bear’s torso, suggesting it was threaded onto a cord and perhaps worn as a protective amulet. Dimensions: 10.2 x 4.2 x 3.5 cm.

🚨 Language connection FOUND in chimpanzees? 🧠🗣️

For years, scientists thought the key to human language was a fibre connection, missing in chimp brains.

New high-res brain scans just changed the game. 👀🐒
