I’m honestly so proud of myself.

It’s hard to ask for help but I’ve done it again and again over the last year.

I’ve learned that so many folks are so willing to share their knowledge and expertise and I’m just so grateful 😭😭😭

My quote of the day

We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference.

Huge. A towering career at the Post. Ruth Marcus was the acting head of the Opinion section in 2022 (and hired me) — this could have been the person leading it now if Bezos had different priorities.

Two of my favorite things -- "yes, and" and sticking it to Bezos -- rolled into one!
If you've ever taken a theatre/improv class you might have heard the concept of "yes, and." And I think it's an important concept in a lot of areas of life - today, I think it's especially important in the context of our little buy-nothing day, which may be Baby's First Protest for lots of people:

I thought "book tour" was an absurdly exaggerated metaphor for inactivity. But noooope I was wrong, it's true and thus just absurd.

Thought for the morning: Years ago, I thanked a student once for saying something nice about me, to me, and she replied with “It’s easy if it’s true!”

I have not forgotten that since. It's easy to forget the impact a kind word can have. Spread the love, folks.
