Lord, yes!
I cannot stand it in video. Tell me why I should buy your book. Do it on self promo Sundays at r/fantasy, your BlueSky account or somewhere, but write it down. If I have to drag through video I feel the urge to purchase going down.
If it helps: as a consumer I don't want to watch a video of someone promoting their book.
It's a written medium, I want a written summary.
But then, I'm a grumpy old millennial who hates how everything seems to be in video format these days.

Someone just tagged this post from November 2024. Maybe I should do a signed paperback giveaway? I'll pick one at 5 pm CST tomorrow at random from the likes. You don't even have to follow or repost ... but it would be nice if you did!

@naomikritzer.bsky.social any chance there will be a passive aggressive gift guide for 2025?

I've been a fan of Penn and Teller for years and that Penn has the courage to do this makes me respect and admire him more for it.
Good on Penn Jillette. Having to come to terms with your entire political identity and philosophy being wrong is not easy and most people could never do it.

Just finished The Hollow Places by T. Kingfisher

School bus, the otter and overall - dammit Ursula! @tkingfisher.com

Was good stuff. Not going to read again any time soon. May save the Twisted Ones for another day.

Since it's the official start of the Christmas season and I'm in a bad mood, i thought I'd try to change it by giving away 5 copies of Terry Pratchett's Hogfather.

This is one of my favorite books and I really should read it more often.

In his house at R'lyeh, dead Cthulhu lies dreaming. I focus on my dreamwatcher machine, making minute adjustments in all five dimensions.

The Great Old One whimpers, vast limbs twitching in unease. What visions can terrify such an entity?

An image forms in the machine.

A classroom.

No trousers.

Folks, can y'all help me out? I'm trying to find a bit of fanfic that was in my 11/18 morning feed. I know was on AO3 but didn't bookmark the skeet.

It was Bucky texting Sam during the events of The Thunderbolts.

Google is being notably less than helpful.

Anyone able to help me find this?

Reading the advice emails released today show “journalist” Michael Wolff gave Epstein about how to use Trump actions to control him and thinking about all the media men and women who’ve covered for predators. I touched on that horrific reality in below essay.
Re-upping my Epstein essay from August as new information emerges today.

Caution: disturbing descriptions of my and others’ sexual assaults.

Release all the damn files. This is the ultimate test of this nation’s useless partisanship.
"I understand why women are afraid to come forward. I didn’t call the cops on my rapist & I’ve never named him publicly. It’s sure not because I’m protecting him. I’m protecting myself. Nobody would've believed this trailer-park girl vs that Big Man On Campus," @donnerkay.bsky.social writes.

So, does anyone know if Judge Ellis has brought in Bovino over ICE's tear gas party this past weekend?

@tkingfisher.com is Snake-Eater your first SF novel? Asking because there's a moon colony.

No, it's not at Quartz Creek, but I have to know.

Software archeology for real folks, not just in Fire Upon the Deep.
Absolutely WILD that the development of sofrware proceeded with so little heed to record-keeping that 52 year old source code is a major archaeological trove that requires special tools to gain access to, like it's a treasure room in a sealed royal tomb from 3500 years ago.

If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.

Every race. It’s basically been every race.

Governors. Mayors. Long-held GOP dog-catchers. School boards. Water boards. Flipped a dungeon master in a rural Iowa D&D club. State senators. State reps. A janitor in Duluth. State justices. Three GOP Uber drivers.

Just everything.

Because I'm in a foul mood and trying to change it, here are some books to give away.
Killers of a Certain Age by Deanna Raybourn.
If you have a dark sense of humor and like seeing women in the lead, this book is for you.
Available to folks in the US only. Sorry about that.

@naomialderman.bsky.social could you please point me at the sources you used for Part 4, chapter 3 of The Future?
I'm having to deal with AI enthusiasm and would like something other than misguided boosterism. I may even make something of boxes and colored marbles...
Thank you.
