I don’t mean to sound extreme, but I don’t think we should have torture camps for people with criminal records either.

Trump is the most anti-free speech president of my lifetime and it's not particularly close.
The “free speech” and “cancel culture” panics have led to overt state censorship because that was always their purpose. (Gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

Some of my favorite Christmas songs (many classics could make the list, but these are a few of my favorites): John Lennon "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)"; Trans-Siberian Orchestra, “Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24"; The Beach Boys, "Little Saint Nick,"; and Brenda Lee, “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree."

This is critically important. Democrats need to pass it if they retake Congress. Trump will veto it. So pass it again. Campaign on it. Given current polling, corruption of the FBI, and the brutality of ICE and BP, there’s no better time to say, “Federal police are not above the law.”
Restoring Bivens rights: one bill "would allow citizens to sue for damages resulting from constitutional violations committed by federal officers," while the other "would create a cause of action against federal law enforcement agencies and police depts for constitutional violations."
These congressmen want to give you the right to sue federal law enforcement for violating your rights
The proposed bills aim to codify a 1971 Supreme Court ruling that allowed individuals to sue the feds for Fourth Amendment violations.

You will love your blue collar job and the one doll you’re allotted to your daughter.
Peter Navarro: "In an age of AI when all the white collar jobs are going away pretty damn quick, I think maybe it's a good time for people to think about having good blue collar jobs ... give tariffs a chance, because they're working"

We need a third American founding and a leader capable of ushering that in. Who knows if that leader is in the conversation or waiting in the wings, but obviously, it takes more than just a singular great leader. The people have to be ready, able, and willing, too.
We need a champion for democracy. A leader of the stature of a Washington or Lincoln. I don’t care if they call themselves a Democrat, an independent, or even a renegade Republican. We need a leader who can stand toe to toe with MAGA and make the case that democracy matters. I don’t know who is out

This is as easy a test of your belief in the American system as is conceivable: Should this be an acceptable argument from a president?

Candace Owens is a charlatan & a conspiracist. So is Tucker Carlson. But u know what? So is Donald Trump. And bcuz of his position, Trump is a much bigger threat. So it’s not courageous for voices on the right to condemn Owens & Carlson but still support Trump. It’s cowardly. And hypocritical.

when they say "take the country back," they're not talking about winning elections
Republicans control literally every lever of federal power right now.

There is not one free thinker in that entire room, including at the podium.
JD Vance: "Wouldn't you rather lead a movement of freethinkers who sometimes disagree than a bunch of drones who take their orders from George Soros?"

Perhaps the vice president should have considered utilizing the services of the vast law-enforcement apparatus at his disposal, rather than googling conspiracy theories on the Internet.
JD Vance: "I remember watching every video of the assassination looking for clues, trying to understand what happened. I tried to hide my friend and that terrible bullet hitting him, but I would try to look around. I stayed up all night for many nights in a row researching every conspiracy theory."

Vance comes down against “purity tests”—i.e., against criticizing the neo-Nazis. He’s happy to have them as part of his coalition.
JD Vance: "When I say that I'm going to fight alongside of you, I mean all of you — each and every one. President Trump did not build the greatest coalition in politics by running his supporters through endless, self-defeating purity tests."

In lessening the stigma around discussions of death, we more fully realize our potential for better living, and indeed, living with death instead of being in an adversarial relationship with it. That's the core theme of Gordon and Kacandes' engrossing, meditative correspondence-turned-book.

Saramago is not exactly easy to read, but if you are truly seeing what he's writing, in the way he's writing it, you'll see the truth of his wisdom about the ways in which citizens operate in a democracy, interact with their government, and indeed, how that government interacts with its citizens.

The kind of blanket immunity Trump has been providing—both to rioters and fake elector fraudsters—opens up a novel abuse of the pardon power. It effectively creates a special class of people: the pardoned class. As the president’s most fanatical supporters, they are essentially above the law.
