I made responsible decisions today and swapped my car to summer wheels, instead of fucking off for a ride on my bike that is low on fork oil and coolant with a fairly worn and slippery back tire.

I hated every second of it because everyone else is out for rides and I can’t 😭 #sadmoto #sv650s

I’ve been reading a lot of romance novels for the past few months, because, escapism, duh.

And I’ve found a few authors I really like. But wow there are a lot more completely terrible ones. Why is the library getting only 1-2 of the good ones, and 20 of the terrible ones?
Ugh.

Only 10 days left until my full time summer work starts! Pretty excited to get back to it, I’ve missed my coworkers and the work and also the steady pay cheque haha 😆

Get a motorbike they said. You will save money on gas, they said.

Theoretically, that could be possible. But with my car I drive the 1.5 km to the store and back. On the bike I get to the same store via a 65 km loop out to Gull Lake and back. 😏

Listened through a few older Bad Omens albums today and when the last one finished Apple autopay took over, and it nailed it. My heads been full of angsty metal all day and I love it.

Given the current US/Canada, uhhh, atmosphere, sort of want people be aware that the nominee for Ambassador to Canada, Pete Hoekstra, is a Project 2025 contributor and Tea Party guy.

This has all the feels of something that, in normal times, would bring down a government.

I don’t think I’ve painted since I got here? Anyway. Pulled them out tonight. Was watching a tutorial and they described painting waves in a way that finally clicked in my brain. So, had to give it a go. I kind of hate painting wet into wet (left side). #watercolor #waterscape #oceanscaoe

I told myself I would only post photos on bluesky if I write alt text for them. It feels overwhelming sometimes. Just now I looked at the alt text on some other peoples photos. Oh.
Not everyone writes an extensive paragraph. Maybe that’s why it feels like a lot.

And here’s Radar standing in front of the old Skeena river bridge and train trestle. The river is very very low right now.

Dude on the Repair Shop is a world champion in obstacle racing — with one leg.

Said he spent 14 years not walking as a kid ‘cause of extreme pain, but at 16 insisted on amputation.

Now he’s a world champion.

Huh. Maybe teens can make permanent decisions about their bodies that empower them. 🤷‍♀️

I followed a bunch of news and political people awhile ago and now I wish I hadn’t. Anyway, please enjoy this much more pleasant photo of a kid standing on top of a tire swing that’s hanging from a giant old tree, swinging and looking out at the Douglas Channel in Kitimat.

I am very behind on photos. Wish I could attach more than 4 to a post, but here we are. These are from a tiny little magical puddle called Findlay Lake. #inacessibleviews #exploreBC #northernBC #beautifulbritishcolumbia #exploreterrace

I don’t know if these all qualify for #ThickTrunkTuesday but I wanted to share them anyway. There’s so many weird and cool trees up here in Northwest BC.

Other interesting things: finally finished editing and published a video from New Year’s Day adventure up an FSR. Been taking lots of photos. Working on a friends website. I start back freelancing for a former client in February, and back to work for the city in April or May.

1-2 wks ago my nephew came into my Minecraft world, where all I do is build houses from YouTube tutorials. And he was like “I think you should start building houses on the server again.”

So we went back to the server, he picked a location, and gave me basically free rein to build a village.

Well, at least they read the instructions about the appropriate use environment for their devices, which is more than most of the western world can say.

Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.

Bear with me for a second while I try to explain.
