i think that more people who deal with legal names and documentation like insurance or bank accounts in any capacity should have to be trained what a legal name change is and how to handle one because Mother Of Fuck

most of the games i want to play aren't on mac :( i need to return to my rogue trader save... but the crafting + achievement hunting grind has me in its claws

This wouldn’t be an issue if we built inclusive systems and institutions in the first place, but the answer to this question is: some people “pretending” will never come close to being a problem so big that people who need things should be denied them. Ever.
Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.
