40% of people practice “news avoidance,” according to the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism’s “Digital News Report 2025.” Traditional news coverage’s focus on conflict and suffering leaves people feeling depressed and powerless, respondents said, causing many to tune out. buff.ly/0E4hWEy

Irish dairy companies export polluting, ultra-processed, fat-filled milk powder to Senegal, Nigeria, and Ghana. They advertise products that cannot be described as 'milk' in Europe as something healthy and sustainable. New investigation from @desmog.com.web.brid.gy‬: www.desmog.com/2025/07/14/i...
How Ireland’s ‘Mediocre’ Milk Powder Made it Big in West Africa

Irish dairy ‘feeding the world’ we are told. Sustainable, grass fed, green. Government funded.

Meanwhile the industry is profiting from selling inferior milk product in West Africa.

A disturbing DeSmog article on major Irish dairy processors' export of Fat Filled Milk Powder (FFMP) to West Africa, helped by 🇮🇪 tax-payer monies.
Local dairy farmers are being displaced by greenwashed, nutritionally-poor FFMP products.
FFMP can incl. palm oil etc, it cannot be sold as "milk" in EU.

These articles really shine a light on what a pile of shite the "we must feed the world at the expense of water quality and emissions" arguments are.

The world is being fed rubbish that's undermining local food production too

Fat Filled Milk Powder (FFMP) is one of the Irish dairy industry’s largest exports. Almost no one has heard of it because it’s exported mainly to African countries and marketed as milk for its health and sustainability - but it’s made of skimmed milk powder (a byproduct of butter) with palm oil or..

Papa Assane Diop from @humundi.bsky.social‬ said misinformation on social media is overstating the benefits of foreign milk powder, in contrast to fresh milk. “This creates a false perception among West African consumers, turning them away from fresh milk, which is wrongly perceived as ‘dangerous’."

FFMP cannot be described as milk in Europe. Instead, Ireland exports it mostly to West Africa – between 2021-2024, Ireland exported >400,000 tonnes of FFMP to West Africa.

Higher priced butter and cream are mostly sent to Europe and the US.
brigitte-whl.bsky.social
Fat-filled milk powder (FFMP) is made from skimmed milk powder (a by-product of butter and cream) and vegetable fats.

Irish companies are using social media and influencers to market it as healthy, especially for children. But experts describe it as “nutritionally mediocre” and “low quality”.
