Cassidy's quote is the real mind-boggler here. Saying the 2017 tax cut paid for itself is like saying "Actually we won the Iraq War easily, zero Americans or Iraqis died, and we left in a month and a half." It's not a matter of opinion. And Cassidy is supposed to be one of the sane Republicans.
Republicans, uncomfortable being held responsible for causing trillions of dollars of debt, are workshopping ways to pretend tax cuts are free.
