Which elected Democrat has defended Mangione? Which elected Republican has not defended ICE'S murder of Good? @chatterton.bsky.social

The only ax to grind that I have is against lazy thinking, of which this post is great example. You are equating the lionization of Mangione by a small number of Americans — in a manner no different from classic veneration of the outlaw — with propaganda in defense of state-sanctioned murder.
Anyone without a strange axe to grind (even that journeyman @jodyrosen.bsky.social) knows there’s nothing remotely objectionable about advocating for basic decency in a country where Good’s murder is welcomed and Luigi Mangione is lionized.

on 22 february 1943 sophie scholl and her friends were executed by guillotine by the nazi regime. in court scholl said this:

"Somebody, after all, had to make a start. What we wrote and said is also believed by many others. They just don't dare express themselves as we did."

THIS IS A SCHOOL, WHY ARE THEY SHOOTING
An official from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis told MPR News that armed U.S. Border Patrol goons came onto school property during dismissal Wednesday and began tackling people; they handcuffed two staff members and released chemical weapons on bystanders.

@governorwalz.mn.gov: You no longer have anything to lose politically

It's not fair that anyone should have to endanger themselves and their families by being the first, but please be the first anyway

Please be the first governor to call the National Guard to deal with this emergency

Just because the Republican Party is trying to wreck state capacity doesn’t mean that we have to go along and help. Private charity will never be a substitute for public works.
“Everyone needs mutual aid” - I should hope not because it’s usually not going to be there and its total capacity to support the needy is very low. Part of what makes us progressive is that we understand these kinds of charitable private systems of support are insufficient, and often actively bad.

Wild scenes. Absolutely wild. My brain can't comprehend this kind of behavior
ICE detain father shopping on Christmas Eve—then steal his family's groceries.

Then 3 agents divvy up his paid for food—taking what they want for themselves.

"Can I just get the wife's number to call and let her know?" woman asks.

"No, guess he should've complied," agent says.

Officially Celebrated Serious Thinkers despise contingency because it makes almost all of their sober expounding absurd. No one can predict the future, not even a little. The past did not predict the present, not even in hindsight. Stuff just happens. You can only ever look backwards.

ok so the times witnessed reporters receiving cash from Adams people three times at mayoral events and sat on it for over a month but couldn’t pass up a hot tip from a neonazi about Mamdani’s unsuccessful college application for long enough to check if the neonazi had already been identified

Are tech billionaires drivers of industry and innovation, or an existential threat to democracy?

Last point on this, which is that there is real and dangerous antisemitism rising in the United States right now, including on the left. When Democratic leaders throw around obviously bad faith accusations of antisemitism, it gives plausible deniability to actual antisemites.

Congrats to Zohran Mamdani. Important lessons.

Focus on shifting economic power. Relentlessly. Have big ideas on how to do it.

Be joyful and authentic. Even if your ideas aren't considered "mainstream" by elites. The elites have little idea what's actually mainstream.
On Friday night, we walked the length of Manhattan, from Inwood Hill to Battery Park.

New Yorkers deserve a Mayor they can see, hear, even yell at. The city is in the streets.

What I learned today is that the @nytopinion.nytimes.com doesn’t believe in young people of color in leadership. Time and time again people tout “seniority” and “experience”. 75 years ago, there were no women of color elected in NY. Where is “seniority” or “experience” to come from for us?
