If we want better conversations about mental health, we need less fixing and more listening.

Hedgehogs are in trouble. They can travel up to 2 miles a night in search of food and a mate - but barriers around gardens make this hard, contributing to population declines. Linking gardens to create a network of hedgehog-friendly spaces can help.

“Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.” Samuel Beckett

Mistakes made. Lessons learned. Trying matters. Learning matters.

And sometimes, trying again matters too.

Be gentle with yourself.

Sending love to the lonely and to those finding times tough; sending love to those who are in pain, and all the people sleeping rough. Sending love to everybody missing somebody this year; sending love to everyone not full of festive cheer.

A stamp from my collection that has relevance to this date in history (2025).

On November 29, 1832, Louisa May Alcott was born in Germantown, PA. She is best known for her novel, Little Women.

Three reasons to avoid cutting back dead stems and seed heads this winter:
🐞 Hollow stems provide homes for hibernating insects, such as lacewings and ladybirds
🌻 Birds feed on seed heads like teasels, sunflowers and thistles
❄️ They look good when dusted with frost or snow!

❌ We don’t say “committed suicide.”

We choose gentler alternatives, like “died by suicide.”

Because no one commits cancer. Or heartbreak.

It’s not political correctness. It’s kindness.
