I think Marques really does a great job showing what China is doing in the auto sector. I have real concerns about China, but I think our dismissive and simplistic view of what China is capable of needs recalibration here in the US.

Also a club member of the USA, and I couldn't agree more! Pretty sure my dues are much higher than my Costco membership, but Costco doesn't have discounts on roads, police, and fire....right? RIGHT?
I already belong to a club. It’s called the USA. 330 million members! And our negotiating team is called government. They’re supposed to represent us. How is this hard to understand?

Everyone talks about algorithms re information bubbles. I don't hear anyone talk about algorithms re commerce. Sellers compete for the opportunity to sell you product (buy box) But once they win that opportunity, they can then charge whatever they want. That's how Amazon picks winners.

Anyone doing any maintenance or upgrades on their home? I actually got a 6 figure price to replace windows in my 30+ year old home. 6 FIGURES! A $40K roofing bid for a pole building. I feel like some of these companies are just throwing out huge numbers to see who bites. No thanks.

Trump at the UN. What an absolute embarrassment. Would anyone be surprised if the collection of intelligence agencies globally, start actively investigating and releasing information they find about him in an attempt to further isolate the US and undermine him? He's basically begging for them to.

LinkedIn post this morning, and I don't see this talked about enough. It's deeply concerning to see posts of countless high-performing, well-qualified people in dire straights. AI is already affecting employment in a huge way and I think this post perfectly sums it up.

My wife and I spent a part of the weekend checking out the new Seattle waterfront, and it was incredible. From 2nd, down through Pike Place and down all of the piers is amazing. So well thought out. We are from the sticks, so big city outings aren't all that common.

I can appreciate the attention to AI and unemployment, but it isn't a binary situation. While a roofer is relatively safe, the sales rep who loses his job cannot afford to hire a roofer or concrete finisher. If a rising tide lifts all boats, a falling tide will lower them.
Microsoft study shows jobs most — and least — impacted by generative AI

Anyone remember the moment you went from knowing all current music, to just saying fuck it? I'm a Gen X man, refusing to invest energy into this weeks Covid lockdown streamer/influencer who made it big-unless they are fighting Jake Paul or doing a "collab" with Mr. Beast. Yeah, I'm rad-I mean fire?

Import the labor, or import the finished product. That is the choice. By importing labor, you get hard-working people that spend that wage in the US and produce wholesale product. Import product & you have import fees, margin stacking through importers and distributors, and profits stay in Mexico.

I have to give a shout-out (do we still say that?) to a Youtube channel I came across yesterday. I can't quite tell where he's from (Russia?). His craftsmanship in what he does, and how he shows what he does is pretty remarkable. www.youtube.com/@madebymadma...

Gen X here. Recessions, illness, and pandemics take effort and hard work out of the equation. We are financially “reset” while dealing with decreasing insurance coverage and rising costs. We all know it will continue, especially younger gens who’ve watched their parents and grandparents struggle.
There are some centrist and center-right pundits making earnest pleas about Mr. Mamdani being a threat to the economy, and I don't think they understand that the vast majority of us under 40 don't care. This is not a system that works for us. It doesn't take being a leftist to grasp that.

I know I'm going to sound like a boomer (I'm GenX), but my son just showed me the audio/video interaction tools for ChatGPT. I've been using the normal type function like crazy, but this is a whole other level. Point the cam and ask her what is happening and she engages like she's sitting there.

Flag for your Dodge truck, when you cheer an authoritarian government taking your rights away, militarizing your streets, & flying predator drones over your cities. When you're ok with open carry AR's, but frozen water bottles are a bridge too far.

“If you don’t learn to integrate AI into your daily work life, you’ll be obsolete”. Also, if you use AI, you are going to kill the planet. I’m having a hard time deciding what to eat for lunch and you are putting that on me?

If a $400B jet, takes $1B to retrofit, takes 3 years to do, so will never be used as AF1 since it's transferred to Trumps Library after. So it won't need the retrofit, so would never have been AF1, so it's not even an accurate "exhibit" in his library. This is Trumps new personal jet. Period.

I know there are a lot of very astute people who pick up on the errors of these AI videos, but people flip through videos so fast, no one will notice any subtle inaccuracies. Especially where most view them....on mobile devices. And they will not be there in another 3-4 months.

Saw the Fantastic Four trailer this weekend. There was an origin story in 1994, 2005, 2015, and 2025. Only this one has a retro-futuristic aesthetic.....because that's not confusing. Can't wait for 2035 which will be completely AI scripted and developed with a throwback to a 2015 aesthetic?!?

As someone interested in more of our fellow citizens being educated about what's happening.....I despise questions about the deficit being answered in terms of debt. Every president ads to the debt until the deficit is turned into a surplus. ONLY DEMS have reduced deficit during their terms.
