Even if you (wrongly) believe that some immigrants lack due process rights, what’s to stop the government from claiming that *you* are an undocumented immigrant; removing you to El Salvador; citing an “administrative error”; and refusing to do anything to bring you back?

The answer is due process.

One thing I unironically love about Bluesky is that I'm confident I could assemble, from the folks I follow, a top-notch team of experts in ridiculously unrelated fields to solve a major crime. Need a microbiologist, an art historian, a database expert, & someone who can do 73 pull-ups? No problem!

The Midwestern dilemma:

It's warm enough today and that it might be nice to run the air conditioner for a spell. That would test that it's working, you see, and also it's not going to cool off much tonight.

But it's not even April yet and it may snow on Monday. This decision is pain.

If you worked for 18F and got fired, Group together to start a consulting company.

It’s just a matter of time before DOGE needs you to fix the mess they inevitably create.

They will have to hire your company as a contractor to fix it. But on your terms.

I’m happy to invest and/or help

Besides the personal cost to those losing their jobs, this WILL NOT SAVE MONEY.
Every $1 IRS spends on audits brings in >$1 in additional revenue. This is especially true for audits of the very rich: $6.29 returned for each dollar spent auditing top 0.1%.

Opinion | How much did Congress lose by defunding the IRS? Way more than we thought.
New research finds that for each extra dollar the IRS spends auditing wealthy taxpayers, it can collect more than $12 in return.
