At best, Miller hasn't been paying much attention to developments and got handed a bunch of money and/or a renewed sense of relevance from the sponsors of the festival and so didn't feel the drive to check into it.
At worst, he's choosing his profits over his colleagues.
SMH either way.

yeah, i actually do eat a lot more vegan food nowadays because i have seen a bunch of recipes for vegan food online that look delicious

this is, IMO, a much more effective sales tactic for veganism

Channels posting yummy vegan recipes, on the other hand, have quite dramatically altered my diet (even though it's been vegetarian and mostly plant-based for decades).

I agree. Also the pervasive utilitarianism that boils all experiences down to obtaining knowledge from it you then apply to the process of making money (or some synonym for making money like "providing for your family"), rather than the experience having value in and of itself.

The planet-destroying lie machine is *also incredibly bad* and I cannot *wait* for this bubble to burst, but it bursts faster if we get more people to learn how to enjoy art, both experiencing it and making it.
I don't have a fix except "arts education again when?"

I was thinking about the issue of banning AI art, and I think it's not about the slop itself for me as much as it is about wanting to cure the societal ills that led to people who think having an idea and hitting a button is all art is, or that a summary of a book is the same as the book.

Depends what you call social media. I met Spousebot via a dating site, and I got my 15-years-and-counting job via Craigslist. In a non-debatable case, nearly all of the marketing for THE IMAGINARY CORPSE was via social media, and that was pretty nice.

Cooking: We're trying out cooking my beloved roast sweet potatoes in the air fryer this week -- it'll make it easier to coordinate cooking that and chicken at the same time since we lost* our big baking sheet and that leaves us shy of dishes.
