I'm tired of white people and people in the West using Filipinos as nurses & personal assistants for their own personal gains & advantages. We don't deserve to have our hospitality to be taken advantage of by people who just want to exploit us. Genuinely tired of that crap. #philippines

“From sustainability, social justice, politics, fashion, and everything else, Teen Vogue was a place for young women to feel seen and heard,” @aiyanaish.bsky.social said. “It also gave them the chance to speak for themselves.”
Teen Vogue’s loss is an irreplaceable void in teen media
Between fandoms and youth activists, people don’t take teenage girls seriously — but Teen Vogue did.

As an Asian-Aussie woman who grew up in a regional area (country town), I feel for teens from marginalised groups & those who live in regional & rural areas who will be affected by Australia's u 16 social media ban. As a teen you try to find yourself & where you belong, which is always hard. /1

As an millennial, it's so weird watching Channel 10 promote #BigBrotherAU with footage from like over 20 years ago (The first season was in 2001!). Is that supposed to get millennials to watch the show, even though Gen Z is their target audience? Makes no sense to me. #BBAU #australia

Stuff like this is dystopian to me. I feel like Filipinos deserve better than doing remote work like this. #filipinos #philippines
Japanese convenience stores are being stocked by AI robots monitored by remote workers in the Philippines

I just watched #freakierfriday basically for #mannyjacinto & I was sad that he didn't have more screen time in it. It was a fun movie though. My least favourite part was SNL's Chloe Fineman as a dance instructor with an AWFUL "Aussie" accent. She sounded like she was doing a really bad NZ accent. /1

When I was younger & getting into fandoms, I used to think the term "AU" stood for Australia instead of "Alternate Universe". So I used to think that people would write about their characters in Australia & wondered why I didn't recognise Australia in their stories. As an Aussie, I was confused. LOL

Being an eldest daughter of an immigrant parent, I find it kind of insulting that Taylor Swift has a new song called "Eldest Daughter" but barely writes about the actual experience of being one, let alone a heavily involved one. She's never mentioned it in her music before (that I'm aware of). /1

I saw this on Reddit & as a working class millennial, I definitely agree with this.

www.yahoo.com/news/article...
Suzy Welch says Gen Z and millennials are burnt out because older generations worked just as hard, but they ‘had hope’
"We believed that if you worked hard, you were rewarded for it," Welch said. "This is the disconnect."

A lot of younger people don't know how to look up answers online anymore. People will just go to Reddit or Quora & ask questions that you can easily find the answers to by looking through your favourite search engine. Or asking AI for the answers, which isn't always correct either.
i don't want to hear your most boomer complaint. what's your most millennial complaint?

I have cravings for ube leche flan cake & chocolate leche flan cake! I wish it was easy to get some. :-(

Fresh apples and pears. I hate the texture of fresh apples and pears. I'll drink apple and pear juice and eat apple and pear flavoured desserts like apple crumble and pear crumble though.
3. What is a food that everyone loves that you don't?

Man oh man do I LOVE seeing random old white men on Bluesky fetishise and degrade Filipinas and other Asian women on all my timelines! And if you can't tell I'm being sarcastic. If I could insert the vomiting emoji here, I would. I'm tired of seeing racist & gross passport bros online.

Yesterday's marches around Australia reminded me of the Cronulla riots in 2005 but magnified. Scary to witness. Times change but sadly racism & xenophobia doesn't. Fuck the far right & the Nazis! Also fuck Pauline Hanson too. #auspol #australia #immigrants #bipoc #peopleofcolour #aussiepoc

My partner & I made bibingka from a packet for the first time. I didn't realise that the bibingka mix was enough for a party! We used 1 pack now; the other pack next. It was so good! It's good though because I want to put ube in it when we make the next bibingka. Maybe some cheese on top as well.
July 15, 2025 at 10:58 AM
Filipino: Ube cheese ice cream. I don't like the texture; it's gritty. I still love ube & cheese on sweet things though.

English: Mushy peas. Peas in its worst form. Doesn't look appealing.

Scottish: Irn Bru. Not a fan sorry.

Australian: Coleslaw. Always drowning in too much dressing. Hate it!
what's a traditional food of your people/culture that everyone else seems to love that you absolutely cannot stand?

for me it is vada pav. Vada is incredible, pav is fantastic, in combination they cancel each other out and become a black hole of anti-taste

Two questions for #peopleofcolour in the #UK from this Asian Aussie: 1) Is the term "BAME" still used there? 2) Also, are people there aware of the terms "ESEA" (East and Southeast Asian) and "BESEA" (British East and Southeast Asian)? Please and thank you.
