friendly reminder that the best case scenario over the coming years is that a lot of people say "I supported Trump but this isn't what I wanted at all" and when they do that it's gonna be really, really important that we say "welcome in," not "fuck you, we told you so"

At OPM, Musk’s staffers won’t leave—they work around the clock and have even installed sofa beds in the office. Our access to data systems has been restricted, raising serious concerns about cybersecurity and a complete lack of oversight. We are keeping our heads down and documenting everything.

16 Democratic senators recently voted to confirm the Trump-appointed Treasury Secretary who just gave Musk’s team access to a Treasury payment system that disburses trillions and holds mass quantities of personal information. Food for thought. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

I’m going to put my rich guy hat on and say I hope that Mexico and Canada issue equal, retaliatory tariffs and stick to them for an extended period.

I apologize to all the people it will cost money and the businesses it will hurt.

But it’s the only way for tariffs to be seen for what they are

The Trump administration is scrubbing the CDC’s website of documents on reproductive rights issues, sexual health, intimate partner violence, and more.

I'm trying to save them.

You can find the deleted docs at CDCGuidelines.com - I'll be adding more over the weekend.

The Democratic Party needs new messaging strategies.
We ALL know this.
The predatory & patriarchal system of the past is broken.
Now is our chance.
Going back to the same tired “establishment” folks who failed us in 2024 is not the way forward.
I truly hope @kenmartin.bsky.social understands this.

Hey Dems,
Imagine just how much the GOP would be freaking the fuck out if Obama or Biden had allowed Soros access to all treasury payment and taxpayer data. Because they’d be right to freak the fuck out.

So, freak the fuck out. Now would be good.

XOXO

It's odd that one of Trump's first acts was repealing an Executive Order to lower drug costs. Basically increasing drug costs for people doesn't lower costs and I was reliably told that was a big issue in the election

Same applies to political parties, as well. Time to wise up, adapt, and evolve. Though I’m afraid that the ties that bind are too strong. Multiple smaller parties, allied, would be much more nimble in addressing the threat.

Exactly this. If we are focused on Greenland and Panama, it means we’re NOT focused on Russia and China.
See my earlier post about destabilizing — it’s also a giant distraction as Applebaum notes.
Think of the time being wasted by diplomats and experts in Europe and Latin America, as they start planning how to counter American attacks on Panama or Greenland. Time that could be spent thinking about a unified response to Russia and China.

If you want to understand why healthcare pricing is horrific, the first thing to know is that our system puts 100% of the credit risk for deductibles, copays and co-insurance on hospitals and doctors. That's insane.

We have turned them into Sub Prime Lenders 🧵

Trump: Yes. We have concepts of a plan that will be better.

Healthcare is a human right to alleviate human suffering.
Universal healthcare coverage is the peaceful way to resolve many of our pressing problems, so if someone is looking for peaceful solutions, point this out and see if “peaceful solutions” is what they really after, or if they just want sick people to be quiet..
