£2.5 billion capital funding is a drop in the ocean for a scheme that would pay for itself in no time through increased economic activity driven by improved labour mobility.

This is a bad decision made for the wrong reasons by weak people who don’t deserve the power they wield.

A bus network is not attractive rapid transit & will struggle to drive modal shift and investment. Look no further than Cambridge to see that despite busways, overall mode share of buses remains stuck on ~8% & congestion keeps increasing… is that the answer for Leeds? We don’t think so.
Rapid transit you say? The answer from Treasury is always: ‘maybe it could be a bus?’
not so fast! Never underestimate the depth of cynicism you are required to bring to the table

Reinstating the rail line to Haverhill from Cambridge should be a prime candidate for practical implementation of these policies 😃

The headline reminds me of Spamalot.
**'Ere! He says he's not dead**
"Well he will be in a minute"
**I can't take him like that - it's against regulations**
'I don't want to go on the [plague] cart!'
"Shut up!"

Good to see progress on MRT, updating Mass Transit Options study of 2018 is badly needed. We anticipate light rail will be one of the options considered; it is the most proven, practical and deliverable form of mass transit available, as evidenced in dozens of cities across Europe.
