I really really hate how social media, and these microblogging platforms especially, amplify and transmit neurosis.

the times call for happy warriors, not shut-ins who want to be bullies... if they can ever manage to pick up the phone (but they can spend all day dicking around online, never fear).

like, this is an insult to our country, other countries, the world, the concept of democracy, and tons of other things, carried out by sadistic monsters, but most of everyday life for most of us will continue

You have permission to relax. And if you want to actually be effective in resisting fascism, you should do it as much as you can manage. (Not that it's always easy! The goal is to try.)

People telling you that you aren't scared enough are either misguided or trying to provoke reassurances.

And if it helps I'm saying this to you because I need to hear it. Humans are survivors. History is sin and savagery we survived it. You are a survivor. That is why you are here, now. And you will be here, tomorrow. And you will do what it takes to make sure that the people you love are there too.

And you also need to ground yourself. Ground yourself the banal mundane shit of life that makes any of this worthwhile. Spend time with friends. Play games. Consume art. Go to a kids kids birthday party. Life goes on because it must and eventually you will remember that you are part of life.

You all (and I) need to stop thinking about the future and what will happen if we maintain this course. It does not actually help. It feels like mastering the problem and mastering yourself and it isn't. You need to think about what to do when the opportunity arises and how to recognize opportunity.

The term hedonism usually refers to people who steep themselves in physical pleasures. But it's also a certain personality type that needs to inhale novel information. When all the novel information is bad, that personality trait goes from a defect to a rolling pathological crisis.

Because it's been two weeks of the administration, because we pickle our brains on this stuff. We read Blue Sky in the morning. When we wake up we read when we should be working. We read after dinner. We read before going to bed at night. We are in fact more informed and that is the problem.
