I think a lot of what drives MAGA is what they see as the tyranny of quality. The belief that the only thing that separates a YouTuber from a NASA scientist, Lee Greenwood from Bruce Springsteen, or gibberish from an A paper is some sort of conspiracy against their worldview.
I finally read that Oklahoma state essay rightwingers have embraced as a cause. I'm an English prof. I, too, would have failed it. If I was a conservative Christian, I think I'd be even more offended by this student trying to use faith as a cover for not doing the work.
