My quote of the day

Be careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint.

Hospital nursing research is the only place where you can bring in grant funding more than your annual salary and people react with “have you tried not doing that?”

Why is it so hard for nurses to differentiate QI from research? Maybe because the Common Rule draws a legal boundary, not an ethical one. Identical projects can expose patients to the same procedures, yet one gets IRB oversight while the other dodges it because it’s labeled “QI.”

Most sectors celebrate when you secure major funding. In nursing research, it apparently triggers a cross-departmental intervention, featuring nurses and non-nurses alike asking why I’m behaving like someone who expects to succeed. “HOW DARE YOU generate value” is a wild business model.

The number of young people I encounter with bachelors or masters degrees who think that “doing research” means “searching the internet” is quite distressing for the future of our profession. #science #PhD #research

I challenge all the Texas haters parroting “BuT YoU LoSt tO FlOrIdA” to go back and watch that Florida game. Florida played very well. Have some respect for them. Their entire season didn’t pan out but that’s not a bad loss when you look only at the football that was played on the field that day.

If we’re going to lose jobs to AI, let the CFP Committee lead the way
December 7, 2025 at 5:34 PM
The #cfp trolls have tried so hard to discredit #Texas on social media to try to keep them out of the playoffs, because they know that they are favored to win against most teams in the bracket. You can tell it’s the bot farm/trolls because they are all so consistently on-message across platforms.

#Texas should switch to the #ACC since the only thing that matters to cfp is winning conference championships. This year’s #cfp is a joke. A 5-loss team is suddenly part of the conversation after weeks of insisting that Texas’s one-score loss in a voluntary game to #1 team in the country is fatal.
December 7, 2025 at 5:32 AM
The chaos in today’s college conference championship games demonstrated just how wrong the #CFP committee’s rankings have been all along. Why decide the bracket before the championship games were even played?
December 7, 2025 at 4:31 AM
If losses matter so much for the #Texas college football playoff chances, why doesn’t it equally matter that both #OU and #Vanderbilt lost to Texas? You can’t say losses are the most important thing and then disregard head-to-head results. #cfp #longhorns

Part of the issue with this MD-DNP turf war is that physicians fundamentally misunderstand nursing practice, and they have been trained to think that nursing is just a subset of medical practice. It’s not. It’s governed by its own ethical code and standards of practice.
November 23, 2025 at 5:40 PM
The move to de-professionalize nursing sits uneasily alongside industry efforts to automate it. Changing the category doesn’t change the complexity and relational nature of nursing practice, but it does make it easier to flood the market with task-based “#AI Nurse” technology.

If #DNP ‘title confusion’ were actually dangerous, we’d see data. We don’t. The only thing injured so far is professional ego.
November 23, 2025 at 5:15 PM
If #DNPs deliver strong results and the public reads that success as medical authority, the main beneficiary is medicine. Confusion becomes free reputation management for MDs and they get to appropriate the public’s trust in nurses, who are consistently rated more ethical and trustworthy than #MDs.

Imagine having an MD and still buying ad space to dunk on doctorally prepared nurses. If your credentials were that secure, you wouldn’t need an NPR PSA to reassure yourself. Touch some grass. #DNP #MD

One of the most successful rebranding campaigns of our time is convincing us that pleather is a luxury item and an environmentally responsible, healthy choice.
