It all started in 1955 with a misprint in a Colorado newspaper and a call to Col. Harry Shoup's secret military hotline. Shoup played along with the tiny voice who called, and a tradition was born. From the NPR archives.

Really cool
I get that the news cycle is packed right now, but I just heard from a colleague at the Smithsonian that this is fully a GIANT SQUID BEING EATEN BY A SPERM WHALE and it’s possibly the first ever confirmed video according to a friend at NOAA

The writer of one of the Greatest Reviews Ever Written has died: Marilyn Hagerty of North Dakota has passed away at age 99.

Cheers to a long life, ma'am.

Her Olive Garden review is The PINNACLE of Midwestern Nice, in my opinion.

Have the fascism, genocide, and manmade famine scholars finally started speaking out on Gaza or are they still quiet?

I don’t expect much of people but their near two-year silence on the very sort of atrocity they study for a living is revolting. A betrayal to scholarship but really to morality.

Holy shit, this is phenomenal reporting by @404media.co. The NYT could never.

Frightening shit too. This is what I was worried about. Trump administration is hoping a good number of those disappeared have no family that would inquire into there whereabouts.

Anyway subscribe to 404.
"flight manifests for 3 legally contested deportation flights from Texas to El Salvador contain dozens of additional, unaccounted for passengers than a previously published Department of Homeland Security (DHS) list of people deported from the United States on those flights, 404 Media has learned."
Flight Manifests Reveal Dozens of Previously Unknown People on Three Deportation Flights to El Salvador
Hacked data obtained by 404 Media reveals dozens more people on deportation flights to El Salvador who are unaccounted for. “We have not heard from these people’s families, so I think perhaps even they don’t know," one lawyer said.

A political choice, a policy choice
There’s money for ICE
There’s money for concentration camps
There’s money for tax cuts for the wealthy

Yet there’s no money for healthcare, housing, food assistance, social support, or public broadcasting.

There’s no money to help the sick, homeless & starving

Suffering is a political choice

Yesterday, Maurene Comey, who prosecuted the Epstein case, was summarily fired from SDNY. Her letter to colleagues pulls no punches. "Fear is the tool of a tyrant, wielded to suppress independent thought."

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. apparently embraces the outdated "miasma theory" of disease instead of the widely accept "germ theory" of disease, which may help explain some of the actions he's been taking.

Gerontocracy exists to protect dirty state secrets; that's why much of Congress is ancient and Trump's first cabinet was full of old-time mafia lackeys (Ross, Mnuchin, Barr etc). Now that the explicit goal is to destroy the US, they want very young people who never knew the secrets and don't care.
