This is infuriating. Maybe the TA could have given some pity points but fundamentally the essay didn’t address the reading, so a grade of zero is appropriate. And that’s before you get into the “demonic” BS. Yet another trans person thrown under the bus because it’s easier than having a spine

It took over a month but my copy has finally arrived! I have had the PDF of this book for years and I’m so glad it has finally gone to print. Algebraic geometry sometimes has the reputation of being obscure and snobby, but Vakil’s treatment is welcoming, accessible, and beautiful. #mathsky

I actually think this is exactly why a lot of people voted for him. They might have hoped he would improve their lives as a bonus, but the main reason they voted for him was to get to feel like they’d won the culture war
I’ve increasingly seen Trump supporters claim that they voted for him to see him “own” the left on social media—which IMO is a form of coping that shows he has done nothing to materially improve their lives (he’s actually made them worse, but they won’t admit that)

Generative AI by definition is conformity. It is an averaging of anything you ask of it - quite literally guessing what the most likely version of a thing might be. It is, by definition, mainstream, as is everything it creates old and deeply ideological, as every model trains on similar data.

I probably would have thought this was an exaggeration a few years ago, but after learning more I have started to see white supremacy everywhere. Why do people vote against medicaid? Public infrastructure? Regulation? Because they believe that they are punishing “bad” people and will be not be hurt
All roads like back to white supremacy. All of it. And I don’t think the average non black person understands the degree to which white supremacy is still the dominating ideology in large swaths of this country, especially in the south.
