I’m just a small-town political scientist, & it’s still relatively early, but it appears that The Actual Democrats did not Need To Do any of the Things or Learn any of the Obvious Lessons that Ezra Douthglesias said they Must Do & Learn.

Tomorrow I'm proud to vote for such a genuine human like Zohran. Can't help but smile watching this video!
A few days after the presidential election one year ago, we went to Fordham Road in the Bronx.

It was a little different last week.

My first week as an assistant prof at Wheaton, Charlie Kirk tried to get me to go on his show to debate him on the 1st Amendment. I declined but encouraged him to take my class if he was admitted, which led to his very public kvetching about my not debating him & the wokeness of (the wrong) Wheaton.

cuomo’s contempt for the people that live in NYC is already disqualifying and the fact that he is *still* choosing to run in the general despite being rejected **overwhelmingly** by voters of ***his own party*** is a reflection of deeply malignant personality flaws that are even more disqualifying

Got a Hochul statement in my inbox about the threat to downstate hospitals. Crickets from City Hall.
Still don’t think Hizzoner has said a word about this. Sixty percent of the patients at city public hospitals are on Medicaid.
👀 Murkowski got her deal, per source familiar.

Part of it will be delaying the Medicaid cuts for high-poverty states.

That was the only way to get it past the Senate parliamentarian, I’m told.

You know what’s agonizing?
Not being able to get medical attention when you’re sick because you got dropped from Medicaid.
Rationing meds because you can’t afford it without insurance.
Realizing you don’t have enough food for you and your family because your SNAP benefits were reduced.
You own this.
Lisa Murkowski talks to the press shortly after she voted, quietly, “aye” on Trump’s tax bill. She said she hopes the House and Senate go to conference to improve it and called her vote “agonizing.”

The Times Union is the Albany paper. The know Cuomo and they know how bad his leadership was/is. And apparently they have more moral courage than the NYT.

The constitutional crisis is here, @schumer.senate.gov.

It isn’t in the distance. It’s here right now.

If you can’t or won’t recognize that, step aside for someone who does. Now. Really, yesterday. You are only further screwing over our democracy by acting as though it’s still business as usual.
WATCH: Schumer says "our democracy will be at stake" if Trump disobeys the Supreme Court—but "we're not there yet."

As a political scientist who studies countries that managed to stop the slide into authoritarianism, I can assure you that ***refraining from provoking the authoritarian*** is not how it works.

Without further ado, I will now go tear out another chunk of hair.

So many Democratic down ballot victories, including female and POC candidates, who won alongside Trump. Unusual data in swing states. A felon who tried to steal the 2020 election, partnering with Russia. I can't believe it either.
There's literally no way in hell he won 7 swing states and I'll go to my grave believing that.
