When I wrote this in January, people said I was an alarmist. Today, the New York Times reported that “Senior officials in the federal government have taken over a conservative media entity to talk about a crackdown on anti-conservative thought and speech.”

If you can get past the paywall, this is worth a read. It's about how the narrative Aboud education in Australia has become about "choice" over equity, and about the consequences of both sides of politics pushing that angle.

Both sides of politics are focused on one group of voters
The parties are rolling out policies on education, healthcare and housing. But they’re persuading voters that “choices” are more important than “equality”.

Fingers crossed that nurses and midwives are allowed to start providing abortion care in New South Wales, Australia 🤞

“In many countries around the world (for example, Sweden), midwives are the primary providers of early medical abortion,”

There is no such thing as a safe seat.

Demand politicians earn your vote.

Don't accept mediocrity.

Excuses about "costs" or "need to bring the public with us" are lies.

Governments have power, and budgets are about choices & priorities.

If it's a priority, it is always affordable.
