It's easier to consistently excuse the less talented players in the lineup (e.g., Kleven in this case) when our expectations for them are generally pretty low, compared to the $8M starting goaltender. If we don't actively correct for that, it can worm its way into our analysis pretty easily.

When I had (very brief) periods of covering the team more intensely, like rookie camp, I found that I developed a tendency to react immediately to what's in front of me, and it was harder to step back and see overall patterns in play.

Whether it's at the mid point of the season or the end, I'd be really interested in a column from Alex on whether he feels like he's noticed any differences in how he watches the game now that he has this new vantage point as someone in the room now.

Tkachuk is a puck-touch generator but he doesn't hold it. The way he disposes of the puck so quickly makes him easy to slot with guys like stützle (who needs to hold it longer to be useful).

really, it was one bad game and people making far too much of a stink over a preseason that is thankfully never going to happen again

really good study on the problem of finding teachers, with properly complex answers

-there has been a severe recent decline in the prestige and appeal of teaching as an occupation
-teacher pay and job security are the two clearest causal factors but they're not all of it

it has been looked at, to some degree, but I recommend this article for a comprehensive review of the issues: edworkingpapers.com/ai22-679
