years ago i was in an online support group that was more like an IFS cult. one by one every new addition would 'discover' their 'system'. i'm sure multiplicity is a useful framework for some, but prescribing it unchecked to people who are already vulnerable seemed, and still seems...not great.
Worth a read. I was once asked to be a demo subject sitting in on a session of a hypnotherapy course for a friend in hypnotherapy training. The session covered using hypnosis for IFS/"Parts Work". It, at the time, seemed to me a wooey unscientific and potentially dangerous method.
Parts work in mainstream publishing. It has been frustrating to see the naive and uncritical adoption of these modalities despite people urging caution for decades now:

one fun fact i love is that bunnies and cats will often be friends because their behaviors for social hierarchies are inverted. if a cat grooms a bunny, the bunny thinks it's getting special attention, while the cat is establishing a dominant/protective role, so they BOTH think they're in charge lol
