I appreciate a well-placed semicolon.
“I think the cases of Munro and Gaiman open up a new question: what do we do with art once we learn that it depicts situations that are explicitly similar to the transgressions of the author?”
I wrote about, among other things, Neil Gaiman and Alice Munro and what happens when the work turns out to be way more biographical than we'd ever suspected.

Do I wanna be warm? Of course. Do I want my house to be warm? Absolutely not. I want my house to be just cold enough that I can smother myself in blankets *thereby becoming* warm. Please respect my process.

In my 30s, I was very interested in living beyond reproach. As a woman, like many marginalized people, I thought I could please my way out of discrimination. In my 40s I now realize this idea is bankrupt. I cannot escape misogyny by being “nice.” In fact, I enable it. This realization is a gift.

I'm not even bothered by the slowness or bugginess today because it means LOTSA NEW PEOPLE! WELCOME NEW PEOPLE!

Quick PSA: the Sky is not Twitter 2.0, it doesn't have the same culture as Twitter, we're trying to build a community here where people talk *to* rather than *at* each other. Lead w/ love

Loving the vibe but genuine concern: is this feeling very US-based? Are people outside of the US feeling the desperate need to flee the other place?
