I wrote about Frederick Wiseman, for whom most superlatives don't go far enough, and the most important thing he did that wasn't making movies.
America Just Lost Another of Its Great Institutions. This One Was a Filmmaker.
Frederick Wiseman leaves behind a body of work as massive as all the institutions he chronicled.

I don’t think it will win Best Picture or Best Actor, but I really loved “Train Dreams” and Joel Edgerton is absolutely amazing in it.

Also, love seeing Bryce Dessner, a member of one of my favorite bands (The National), getting a nomination for original song with Nick Cave.

Hiking @ Chester State Park. I normally paddle this lake, but it’s 62F and I’ve got cabin fever so a hike it is.

One of my pastels from nearly 30 years ago showing a path across Jesus Green in Cambridge. I think this was late in the year with a few leaves hanging on to the trees with some autumn colour remaining. It was bought by a late friend and is now with his family.

I have had a good amount of people ask me if they could still get a signed copy of the book.

So, if you do want one, the stipulation for this is that you'd have to pay for the book itself (I can get an author copy for ~$5) as well as shipping costs and materials.

If interested, DM me!

Romania has decoupled economic growth from pollution faster than anywhere else in EU. Its net greenhouse gas emissions intensity fell 88% between 1990 & 2023, so each euro’s worth of economic activity heats planet 10 times less. Emissions have plunged by 75%. www.theguardian.com/environment/...
‘The trend is irreversible’: has Romania shattered the link between economic growth and high emissions?
Emissions have plunged 75% since communist times in the birthplace of big oil – but for some the transition has been brutal

Ossoff: "Among today's false prophets are the election deniers who indulge this president's obsession with overturning the 2020 election. Hear me when I say this -- they tell a lie so absurd, and therefore so debasing, that the act of telling it proves the teller's total and humiliating submission."
