YouTube suspended my ~15+ year old account and all my videos due to a video I recorded about scammers targeting US government and military offices, which was embedded into articles like @ www.vice.com/en/article/w... from @josephcox.bsky.social

I was likely targeted by a mass reporting campaign.🤡

Something I noticed when doing deep learning research is how it was a kind of meta-science. The design required for a training process to produce a model with "knowledge" is similar to the design required for a study to itself produce "knowledge".
was at an event on AI for science yesterday, a panel discussion here at NeurIPS. The panelists discussed how they plan to replace humans at all levels in the scientific process. So I stood up and protested that what they are doing is evil.

I have to say I completely lost confidence in macOS the day Preview printed out a document where the WRONG CHECKBOX WAS SELECTED ON MY I-485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE

NO OTHER PDF reader did that. Very glad I carefully reviewed the printed document!
Last Week on My Mac: Losing confidence
What was the key to successfully learning to drive, ride a bike, or speak a foreign language? Confidence, and it’s every bit as important in computing, and in macOS.

This is a promising surprise from a real person in the privacy business. This all looks legitimate.

I'm currently happy with US Mobile (no arbitration clause!) but this is the first time I've been convinced to maybe switch.
A New Anonymous Phone Carrier Lets You Sign Up With Nothing but a Zip Code
Privacy stalwart Nicholas Merrill spent a decade fighting an FBI surveillance order. Now he wants to sell you phone service—without knowing almost anything about you.

Nobody is quite sure what an Operating System is. The Internet Browser is tangibly thought of as an Operating System. MicroPython is exactly what we understood an Operating System to be decades prior. Some suckers think merkle trees is an Operating System.

NPR got it wrong this morning when they said Signal is "good, but can be hacked".

This gives the wrong impression! Signal's E2EE is strong and difficult to hack.

The problem is (1) it's not appropriate to use Signal, (2) they added a journalist to a GC, and (3) they used a third-party client.

There is a vibrant industry of people selling fixes to inadequacies in the Unity editor on the Unity store, and since Unity gets a cut on those but their editor is free they'd be actively depriving themselves of revenue by fixing it themselves
