“There’s a big difference between a make and a miss.”

Thank you, Chris Collinsworth, for your continually incisive commentary. 🙄

Listening to Kevin Brown’s talk in General Conference reminded me of @ccjones.bsky.social’s excellent article on early Latter-day Saint missionary efforts in Jamaica. Early missionary attitudes towards Jamaicans juxtaposed with Brown’s conviction of the gospel leave much to reflect upon.

Look your nation right in the face
Screen shot from CNN article linked in the first comment “Across the country, US-born children have become collateral damage in the Trump administration's unprecedented crackdown on undocumented
immigrants. CNN identified more than
100 US citizen children, from newborns to teenagers, who have been left stranded without parents because of immigration actions this year, according to a review of verified crowdfunding campaigns, public records and interviews with families, friends, immigration attorneys and other advocates.”

Two things can be true: 1) Universities are not perfectly run. There are many problems that we should try to fix. 2) It's actually very hard to run a college or university. It's much much easier to perform worse than the status quo than better. www.insidehighered.com/news/governa...

“I asked ChatGPT what would happen if X did Y.”

“I asked ChatGPT how X would react if Y did that.”

Do people think AI can predict the future? That it can somehow factually reveal counterfactuals?

I genuinely do not understand these uses of generative AI.

Multiple people of my faith community were murdered today, their church building set on fire, and first responders are now searching for the remains of unaccounted for individuals.

And here’s the president bragging about the tackiness of his office.

Today has been heavy and this video provided much needed comic relief.

The inexplicable zooming in and out, the calling a backpack a “popular knapsack,” the planting of weed on a baby doll, and him pointing a gun at himself — it’s unintentionally hilarious from start to end.

In honor of Eric Adams dropping out, I'm now resharing my all-time favorite bit of Eric Adams content

for years, this thing was like my video from The Ring, where I had to get other people to watch it in order for me to stay alive

enjoy

I rewound it three times to make sure I understood him correctly. Can’t wait to call my children’s backpacks “popular knapsacks” from now on.

Also, it’s the guns. It’s the easy access to them. It’s the worship of them. It’s the immediate deadliness of them.

It’s the guns.

They're doing the thing to the 14th that they did to the 2nd. It's offensive in many ways of course but it's specifically offensive as a historian because they invent historical evidence for it. They are afraid to say "we want to create a different country so we're going to change the rules"

There is no argument against birthright citizenship other than “I am incredibly racist and don’t like it”

It is clearly and simply spelled out in the 14th amendment - if you are born here, you are an American citizen.

I grew up in TX and remember this well. I also see friends/family who still live there working on these for their kids and am very glad I’m not there.

This very, very good boy woke me this morning at 4 am. Turns out my T1D daughter’s blood sugar levels were dangerously low and her CGM wasn’t transmitting those numbers to our phones.

Don’t know if he sensed her low sugars or it was just a coincidence, but I’m very grateful right now.
