The UK’s flagship health research programme promises breakthroughs, but beneath an NHS branded facade, critics are asking who really benefits from this vast database, heavily backed by industry and government.

NEW STUDY: A new study “confirms what many riders already know—cycling to work makes you healthier, more productive, and even reduces sick days.”

“The most active cyclists chalked up 531 fewer sick days per 100 person-years compared to non-cyclists.”

NHS has a major problem - it has a leak - retention crisis

18,000 UK-trained doctors have left to work abroad
That's nearly one in seven UK-trained drs, representing a 50% increase since 2008

Imagine investing £𝟮𝟯𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗽𝗲𝗿 dr, only for it to benefit another country

That’s UK workforce planning

GPs really would appreciate easy and efficient routes to ask advice from consultant colleagues - but getting a complicated list of instructions isn't appreciated, and nor is having our referrals rejected with the offer of 'guidance' instead.

Dr Sarah Benn, retired GP, gets a mention in this week’s @bmj.com.

A prison sentence and suspension from the Medical Register, are the consequences for her climate activism.

Sarah Benn loses suspension appeal
The retired GP and climate activist Sarah Benn (below) lost her High Court appeal against a misconduct finding and suspension by a medical practitioners' tribunal over her protest actions. Benn was suspended from the medical register for five months after defying an injunction three times during protests and was sentenced to 32 days in prison. She argued that the climate situation was so desperate that lawful means were

insufficient to achieve change.
But the court held that she was not entitled to rely on being a member of the medical profession while repeatedly defying a court order, which resulted in imprisonment.
