Everyone wants there to be a grand scheme behind all of this but the terrible truth is that extremely stupid people are in charge and they have a fanatical devotion to wrong, childlike concepts of society and economics cooked up by right wing radio hosts in order to sell tainted dietary supplements

Knowing how little Musk knows about software development, I do not want him or his team of junior devs rebuilding anything much less critical systems.
COBOL is a genuinely archaic programming language. But trying to do this in a rush is INSANE. And you can bet a huge, huge number of things are going to break. Even in very simple code bases, understanding the levels of dependencies built up over decades takes a huge amount of time.

BREAKING: DOGE is starting to put together a team to migrate the SSA's computer systems entirely off one of its oldest programming languages in a matter of months, potentially putting the integrity of the system—and the benefits on which tens of millions of Americans rely—at risk.

This is extremely important. I have a kid that has an IEP. The Depart of Education funds the programs we receive as well as others throughout the country. We need these services. No for profit system would provide these services affordably for the 99%.
More of this, please!🔥

Democrats have just filed a massive lawsuit led by the New York attorney general, Letitia James; the coalition of more than 20 states filed suit in federal court after the agency cut about half of its workforce.

Keep punching the MAGAs!🔥🔥🔥

This is so fucking embarrassing. Tech has always been an institution with a deep inclination towards boot licking but this is next level. Complying in advance isn't a neutral, face saving position, it's an alignment with the facism to come.

This is a prime example of Seagull Management
Remember how Trump said he "sent the military in and opened up the water flow" in CA? It appears he forced the Army Corps to just drain reservoirs into recently flooded farmland without telling local farmers or leaders. “In 25 years, I’ve never seen anything like this.”

This game looks really neat. We need more beat em ups in this day and age.
Oh, I didn't notice Wendigo Blue came out today! Neat looking brawler by Endless Fluff (Valdis Story, Fae Tactics). The trailer gives me some high fantasy River City Ransom vibes.

Early access looks like it contains one full route and bits of two more.
Wendigo Blue on Steam
Action-packed 2D beat-em-up with intense boss battles and a large variety of customizable equipment and skills. Up to 4 players with local co-op.

If you use Fluent Assertions, you need to know it got bought out by a seedy corporation. They just removed the open source license and are forcing a $130 per developer per year subscription. I am investigating the Shouldly library as a replacement.

I’m pretty pro nuclear power. However, maybe we shouldn’t reopen plants that had partial meltdowns in the past. Also this reason to reopen isn’t good. apple.news/ARxhxOlI0RAm...
