Absolutely!

And seeing comments made at whanau members of councillors too - I just couldn’t do that to my family!
chaneyz85.bsky.social
I just couldn’t handle the hateful/violent comments. And I know they would happen!

Partner: I don’t like the calibre of our candidates
Me: yeah, me too
Partner: why didn’t you stand?
Me: you aren’t the first person to say that to me

All done. And got me one of the stickers the library are giving away too 😊

Lots of people here casting special votes too
A sticker with ranbow bars, it has the words “I voted” on it. The sticker is stuck on top of a laptop alongside other stickers. There are 2 stickers featuring a little boy, 1 where he is buried in sand and doing thumbs up, the other one has the same boy cuddled up in his Grogu oodie. Another sticker features characters from the book Folk Remedy by Jem Yoshioka

This is fantastic!

The E Tū Fb post did a shout out to one of the cleaners at my work, Mareta, for speaking up on the need for them to be paid the living wage.

Mareta does essential work. If she didn’t do her job properly, the collections would be at risk of damage.

She does amazing work ❤️

GOOD NEWS ALERT 🚨

Today the government relented to pressure from the @livingwageaotearoa.bsky.social and retained the requirement for contracted workers to be paid at least the Living Wage rate in Government Contracts. Around 5,000 workers will likely benefit from this decision

Wellington. please vote, the city needs you.
According to "Inner-City Wellington" it looks like only around 1 in 5 people have voted! I know you voted, but have you checked on your friends? Link to voting drop box locations.
Maybe a cheeky re-post too.

And woohoo my mortgage rates are gonna be lower

But…
Food
Transport
Power
GP visits
And Prescriptions cost more

And as a public servant, I’ll be surprised if we get a pay increase negotiated in our collective bargaining soon 🙃

Wooohoooo! Last time we crashed interest rates like this was after the very brilliant global financial crisis... Oh, and then we did it again after that pesky pandemic shut the global economy down.
The good times are truly here again though. And this time we're going it alone! Great work everyone.

That's right search 'Historians' in this Manatu Taonga Ministry for Culture and Heritage document and its returns no results because after 80+ years they're going! Historians matter but not to this government. #HistoryMatters #DontWantToPickYourGhostKumara www.mch.govt.nz/sites/defaul...

I am thoroughly enjoying listening to Sam Neill read his own book, Did I Ever Tell You This?

I highly recommend the audiobook 😊

So, absolutely nothing that Winston says has the slightest effect on anyone listening.
Concurrently, everything Chloe says is a siren call to violence.
The demented old man is telling on himself

I am so done with this bullshit.

NZ First mingled with a crowd who set fire to the grounds of parliament.

The Greens marched with a hīkoi that did not leave a scrap of litter on those same grounds.

Day 2 of our new school drop off routine and the 7yo was ok with me saying goodbye and staying on the bus to work rather than walking him to the classroom

“I’m a big boy Mum”

🥹 I’m not sure if I was ready for that
chaneyz85.bsky.social
The 7yo really is loving that we have a bath in our new house.

I’m not sure I’ll ever get him to have a shower again!
chaneyz85.bsky.social
We pay less than $380 a week for food and we have 3 of us, including a little boy who eats like crazy?!

I wonder if they refuse to stop buying their brands, meat etc

We’ve learnt to change our habits to keep costs a bit lower
chaneyz85.bsky.social
I remember when my FIL was benefit bashing. I interrupted to say “what, like my Mum?”

“Oh no, not your Mum. The others”

🙄 they don’t think of the people behind it. The majority of people on the benefit are just like my Mum. They need support, for what ever reason. They are not gaming the system!

It's deeply disappointing how quickly and happily many people will learn to hate or find contempt in people they deem lesser than themselves. And conservative people love to exploit that human trait. 🤢

Loving the 30 second walk to the bus stop to get the 7yo to school!

This is a policy with no basis in any analysis. It's designed to look tough. It actually makes them look thoughtless and out of touch. It's arbitrary, mean, and simply designed to disguise the fact that the government is failing young people. Is this what being back on track feels like?

Just a reminder that a policy to reduce the number of people on benefits isn’t the same as ensuring they have jobs.

The language and metrics used in policy decisions can create perverse outcomes.

This is a bloody good point. As of November 2026, your 18/19yos will be too old for you to claim working for families, but you'll still be expected to support them if they're out of work in an economy that has haemorrhaged youth jobs under this govt.

Taking away with one hand and slapping you too.

My son is 18 next month, we will lose our working for families for him and he won’t be eligible for the dole cos we earn too much. So by turning 18 we as a family are worse off….

Had not thought about the perks of having an oven that is chest height

No more bending over to get stuff in or out!

Omg, it makes such a difference for me and my breathing!

From when we started having open homes, about 6 months ago, we decided to keep our budgie at the in laws.

He’s finally home with us and has one of the best views
A bird cage on a stand is in front of a window looking over towards the hills. The budgie is standing on one of his perches looking outside
