I just hope the "leftists" currently factually buying into human supremacism will realize that rather sooner than later and distance themselves from that asap.

it's 'leftism' in the way national socialism is 'leftism', fascism wearing it like a disguise

was at an event on AI for science yesterday, a panel discussion here at NeurIPS. The panelists discussed how they plan to replace humans at all levels in the scientific process. So I stood up and protested that what they are doing is evil.

it's probably worse in context. he wrote a whole manifesto about how getting to feel good and enjoy doing science is more important than curing cancer. bsky.app/profile/pekk...
Unbelievable.

I had to check if this is somehow out of context or something. Nope. It's as bad as it looks.

*is reminded about that (hopefully still just purely hypothetical) omnicidal Project Sundial proposal that once aimed to build a nuke capable of wiping out the entire USA if they are about to lose against their enemies*

Ok, correction: that launch was apparently moved by Rocket Lab and not JAXA (www.space.com/space-explor...) meaning perhaps the idea of that hinting towards a Half-Life 3 announcement is not as absurd as I thought.
Watch Rocket Lab launch Japanese technology-demonstrating satellite to orbit on Dec. 11
Liftoff of the "RAISE and Shine" mission is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET on Thursday (Dec. 11).

but still: I would be quite surprised if JAXA itself, meaning Japan's space agency, cared so much about Valve that they are willing to move that rocket launch just to coincide with a Half-Life 3 announcement.

Ok, to be fair: that rocket launch is apparently called "RAISE and Shine" and done by Rocket Lab, the same rocket launch corp that shot "Gnome Chompski" into space on Gaben's behalf
