Moving faster now in the road that's clear of ice. People are watching from their homes. Spontaneous chants are breaking out (and can periodically hear someone yelling, "a woman was murdered!").

If the capitol police reacted on Jan 6 the way ICE did in this encounter there would have been dozens dead
There was amazing restraint and heroism by the U.S. Capitol Police and the Metropolitan Police Department on Jan. 6, 2021. They were viciously attacked by rightwing extremists and rioters incited by Trump.
Also, by their own standards, the cops protecting the Capitol on Jan 6 should have opened fire all over.

Granted I’m biased but I actually don’t think that looking like a lesbian should justify summary executions.

They want it formally dead, but NATO is already functionally dead as a geopolitical reality. Even if he backs down (wouldn't bet on it), there's no going back from sending European capitals into a spiraling panic that the US is seriously about to invade one of them. You can't unring that bell.

The base is already there. Our staff is already there. It isn't in dispute. It is a fully integrated part of our missile defense and has been as long as all of us have been alive, basically.

Trump is doing to politics what biz schools taught future CEOs to do: break the social contract (e.g., the one btw mgmt & labor that once ensured steady jobs) & extract all the value stored inside.

This will have the same effect on politics as it did on the labor mkt: instability & immiseration.
If I was the commander in chief of the Imperial hegemon I would simply not dismantle the network of military and diplomatic alliances, favourable trade deals, and broad cultural paramountcy that had made my nation the most wealthy and powerful the world has ever seen.

Devastated by the burning of a historic synagogue in Jackson, Mississippi, the same synagogue that the KKK targeted in 1967.

The idea that this may be another case of violent antisemitism - after numerous incidents last year - is unconscionable, and it must come to an end.
