once again, every accusation is a confession. republicans spent 15 years accusing democrats of winning elections by trading cash for votes. now, here we are.
If you don't want to see this horrible garbage happen in every future high-stakes election, make sure it demonstrably fails in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race by helping elect Susan Crawford

Disappearing people to avoid the jurisdiction of the court in which they were taken by the state is authoritarian to the core and runs afoul of the spirit of Article III, the Due Process Clause, and the principles that emerged from the Glorious Revolution and the American Revolution. Arbitrary rule.
NEW: Tufts graduate student Rumeysa Ozturk had already been transferred out of state before a federal judge ordered that she not be removed from Massachusetts, federal officials told the court today www.bostonglobe.com/2025/03/27/m...

the one downside of this app is that i can’t wave trump’s union busting executive order in the faces of every credulous dipshit who insisted that the GOP was a worker’s party now

UPDATE—Mahmoud's attorney says they do NOT know where he is.
They were first told he was sent to an ICE facility in Elizabeth, NJ. But when his 8-month-pregnant wife tried to visit him, she was told he's not there.
They've received reports he may be sent as far away as Louisiana.

like the dictators they worship, the american right cannot distinguish between the aesthetic and appearance of power and actual power
i genuinely wonder if the right realizes that this basically means that a lot of US soft power will basically evaporate in the next 4 years

This is an excellent summary of our situation, which is quite bad.

It’s not just that they’re breaking laws. They’re breaking laws that are centrally important to our constitutional order and are constitutive of its identity. They are targeting the best parts of what democracy has built here.
Ignore the media headlines reporting that freezing federal spending or shuttering federal agencies “raise questions” or “push boundaries.” It’s an anticonstitutional lawbreaking spree.
Breaking the Law
Just weeks in, the Trump administration has violated rules, laws, and the Constitution.
