The hatred of knowledge and education is really quite astonishing, though of course it has happened before in human history - think Savonarola in the 15th century and the Nazis in the 1930s/40s. In neither case did it end well, particularly for the proponents and perpetrators.
Texas is banning Plato excerpts from philosophy courses. For context, Plato founded one of the first institutions of higher learning in all of Western civilization. 2,400+ years later, fragile conservatives are trying to censor him.

It is quite extraordinary that the Speaker of the House of Representatives appears to have the power simply to suspend its activities whenever he feels like it (or is told to do so by his boss). Boris Johnson tried the same thing with parliament in 2019 and got very rapidly reversed.....

It is quite extraordinary that the Speaker of the House of Representatives appears to have the power simply to suspend its activities whenever he feels like it (or is told to do so by his boss). Boris Johnson tried the same thing with parliament in 2019 and got very rapidly reversed.....
I'm not a lawyer at all, but it does seem that the NY courts have absolutely no jurisdiction here unless they are claiming that he was doing all this stuff in the USA (and indeed NY if it's not a federal charge). The whole thing is completely TRUMPED-UP (pun fully intended) and nonsensical.
I am a very mediocre lawyer but this seems sound to me.
The US court system does not have any authority to charge Maduro with crimes not committed in the USA.
And the International Criminal Court has not charged Maduro with anything.
