Just came out of two hours of teaching early humans and primates to hear that Jane Goodall has sadly died. The legacy and impact of this human is beyond measure. She brought us closer to each other, closer to primates and face to face with our evolutionary inheritance.

I had a rich and wide-ranging conversation w/ Professor Philip Kitcher for the podcast this week.

We discuss his intellectual journey, interventions in creationism, sociobiology & the genome project, his philosophical evolution, and vision for philosophy serving the common good. A real privilege.

The researchers profiled in this Science piece are doing amazing work improving understanding of the causes of endometriosis and possible diagnostic tests that are less invasive than surgery. An excellent example of how feminist science can produce work that is more open to various explanations,

So, right now, the only reliable way to diagnose endometriosis is with exploratory surgery. But finally, real scientists (instead of male scientists), are on the job & of course they’ve identified multiple markers in menstrual blood that point to noninvasive testing.

Looks like this volume on Mary Hesse edited by Pietro Gori is now published! If you were at #HOPOS in Vienna and went to the various talks and symposium on Hesse, you'll recognize some chapters. I wrote one on Hesse's early work (1952-1961) on scientific language.
